Thread regarding DeVry Inc. layoffs

Updates

Don’t expect a large amount of layoffs before the sale but do expect a cleaning up and some restructuring of managers and other positions by the end of May. Cogswell (Palm Ventures) has yet to confirm the sale or made any form of public announcement. Seems suspicious at the very least...Claims against DeVry are rising...the deal could be at risk. Either way, DeVry is separating from Adtalem and a transfer is better than a closure.

The chicago Campbell campus is relocating. They have been looking at real estate so they can move out of the western and addison adtalem building after the transfer goes through. .. that's crazy. Devry started in that location and they want to move out to a location that is close to an L station. What a move that will be.

the best puffed up bs was produced by RP and the fired Marketing VP. Those guys were the ultimate buffoons... I am sure they are having ample opportunities to practice their talents at the dream center.

I read @1iju’s post in the voice of your favorite past AdT leaders. “Enrollment is trending above prior year...”.

If you haven’t realized that AdT/DVU gerrymander the statistics how they want to present at townhall. They aren’t outright making numbes up, but painting false pictures of hope with the stats.

If they were to be sued, like they already had been for false claims, it’d be the same where they can only legitimize their statistics to a degree, and would point the finger at precedence and lack of regulations on how to collect such stats. If we all knew how corporations weave around laws everyday, things might be different

Anyway, DeVry might keep few campuses and online afloat this year, but that business will in fact sink within a couple years. You can’t just keep expecting less will somehow become more at DVU. ‘Maybe once they cut this business specialization and get another certificate that ‘stacks’ into another program, that will fix it’. Though DVU tried many value prop changes, diff leadership and personell nothing can stop the slow demise of an outdated and overpriced service. People say, “DVU has an amry of MBC students”. The stat of new MBC enrollments is TH worthy news! But the fact that 7% of MBC stus finish the 10 month program in less than 12 months sheds light into what actually happens.

Enrollment growth is easy to achieve when you make getting into the school as simple as possible, but DVU has made 0 improvements to actual student experience in years. New LMS was designed to save money, not give stu’s a better learning tool. I stand by stating 0 improvements for students in class. But plenty of incentives for admissions: LMS waiver, jumpstart courses, faster financial clearance, prior college app fee waiver. Smithsonian on the outside, Dachau on the inside.

The worst part IMO is how slow the death is. Some might be ‘fortunate’ enough to hear this year if their campus closes. But many of the big campuses and online folks will likely be strung along for the next year or so until the powers that be feel enough time has passed to not arouse panic or bad publicity to shutdown DVU’s iron lung. Or those fatcats can’t fabricate more lies to allow them another year of premium salary dervived mostly from taxpayer money.

Nothing good has happened to DVU in over 10 years, what are you people that support it still hanging onto? The pride you have in your own work, and other good co-workers is inherent to you and not the DVU name.

I wonder if the Cogswell people read this page--if enrollments are falsely inflated and claims are rising, then the deal is fraudulent in spirit if not letter of the law.

Enrollments are trending upward due to waiving of fees and free first classes. The numbers are inflated and will appear as though they’re on the rise. However, plan is still not being met. That being said, it’s not the enrollment numbers putting the deal at risk, it’s the number of claims.

Enrollment is actually trending above prior year according to the last townhall.

My guess would be we're looking at a teach-out, with or without Cogswell. Cogswell is only there to allow Adtalem to avoid negative publicity, or maybe to reduce severance expense.

Claims are rising; enrollment dropping. The transfer is definitely in jeopardy.
