Extreme poor handling. For a company that has planned this for a few months now, it could have been much better. What do you think?

My boss's boss came from SJ to lay people off in QCA. He is not even our boss, and I was let go by him and not my boss. NOT BY MY BOSS! He also laid off 6-510 other folks that were not even direct reports to him. Pretty sad huh? For qualcomm too! Sad company affair. The good thing - we knew he was blowing smoke up our a$$es so it was only 10+ minutes of wasted time. Back to work... until May 4th. Then 6 weeks of paid free time.
It's the classic value of "investor" over worker even though if I go and buy a bunch of QCOM stock it isn't really an investment in Qualcomm. The company doesn't get once cent of the "capital" I provided in my purchase.
Bottom line, they don’t care for you as a human being, you are an employee id in a business designed to make the top 1% rich off your slave labor.
Be yourself, it is very rude to ask someone "Were you affected?" unless they volunteer the info.
I don't know how to communicate with those who have been impacted (I know, but they haven't told me) as I'll be seeing them in the office for the next couple of weeks. It is a touchy subject to bring up.
I saw someone get pulled from a meeting and she came back crying and laid off. Classy execution Qualcomm. Way to embarrass her in front of everyone. No heart.
Maybe you tell us how it SHOULD have been handled then genius.

There is no good way to layoff people. They have already asked volunteers. Obviously the number is still too low. Otherwise, there should be no surprise today. When the ax falls, the body falls too.
