did he put in the agenda or any other details? subject?
is the meeting only with you?
is he your direct manager?
you get the idea by now, right?
@prj - that's very true
There’s no golden rules here.
The only time you’ll know you’re not impacted is when you’re told. Trying to work it out by regularly checking your email for invites is futile.
I think most believe tomorrow is the day the conversations will start, and possibly end.
However, all that we can do is sit tight and trust that those giving packages out will try to make it as quick and painless as possible for staff.
It’s a difficult time, for everyone, whether they’re giving bad news, receiving it or just watching their workmates be let go.
The people impacted will get calendar invites today or tomorrow?
@ncs - it'd be WFH4ever
go/cic has been available for months. It is the package if we were overtaken by brcm
If you can access go/cic what does that mean?
If engineers under you are getting affected, your manager supposed to tell you before telling them. So he may just be informing you about your affected engineer name.
Your new project is: wfh.
Managers don't schedule normal meetings on layoff days. As a director whos been through many, its just not worth it. Plus, 20% layoffs keep management busy for the day.
Your Senior Director should have given you the agenda for the meeting if it was not related to the layoffs. Senior Management (Senior Directors and above) have this communication as their full time job for these few days. They are very aware of the effect they will have on the team members if they schedule a meeting with them over the next couple of days. So, they will either avoid unscheduled 1:1 meetings or will tell you more about the agenda to ensure that you do not get the wrong idea.
Of course, this does not apply to regularly scheduled meetings or meeting with a larger number of people. At Qualcomm, we do not believe in mass layoffs!
Probably you will get take home project unpaid with no deadline. Enjoy
