Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Tuesday jitters

I know nothing is happening today but I am still nervous as hell and have trouble sleeping. Most layoffs take place on Tuesday and until this whole thing is over I'm pretty sure I will be a nervous wreck every single one of them.

Hopefully I only have to wait until next week and not longer.

What will really hurt is having to sell my house and move away from OKC after realizing all of the other E&Ps here are in the same boat

If Devon is all you've ever known, I understand the worry. But getting let-go from Devon in '16 was a blessing. Take the severance $ and go get a similar position at a smaller company were you don't have to concern yourself with annual layoffs. You'll be better for it.

And to follow that up, this isn’t the last wave. I would venture this sort of thing happens every year now until 2020.

effective may 1, so we have to stay until then to get severance? or , we get let go, and they pay us through may 1, then severamce begins?

Same here. We're walking on pins and needles. I just bring some Jack with me to work and sip on it while at my desk.

I'll spare you the suspense. It's going down next week. Likely 24th mgmt, and 25th normal personnel. They will make it effective May 1st because they know insurance terminates at the end of the month you are laid off in. Management has canceled all company travel and training that week.
