Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

A positive comment, will the wonders never cease

I've got a different opinion than many that are posting here. Was laid off in 2014 and was lucky to find a job with E. Maybe I'm just lucky but I really enjoy my job. I have a great boss that helps with the crazy workload which is good because it is a bit nuts right now. I don't mind it though cause it is very interesting work. Pay is better than I had at my previous company and there is a better opportunity for promotion. Of course there is always the usual complaints. More late nights than i want and it is sad to see colleagues leave. Would love the stock to be doing better. However, compared to where i came from, Enbridge is actually a lot better on all of these things. The grass is not always greener and all that. Before throwing in the towel, consider how you can make your job and the problems you see better. If you have tried or there is nothing you can do then maybe it's time to go.

Thank you so much for posting this, @SFy3QoN-1oys, I was starting to think I was the only one. It's not an ideal place of work, but it's not as bad as everybody here is painting it to be. AT least I don't feel so lonely in that opinion anymore.

The thing is that the CEO and board of directors have an obligation to the shareholders, customers, and employees. They can not simply wash their hands of that and say if you don't like it here you can go.

The onus is on them to run a profitable business for everyone involved. The share price is a reflection of how successful they are. If the barometer of your success is showing poor performance quarter after quarter, you need to do something different.

Just selling assets won't get it done.

The layoffs, and the constant fear of layoffs, are just so hard on some of us. The condescension from certain higher-ups are also hard to take. Some seem to actually enjoy instilling fear.

You realize you're on 'TheLayoff.com', right? The comments will tend to be layoff related and mostly negative. Considering how many people this company has gotten rid of recently, affecting thousands of people and families, you shouldn't be surprised by the tone.
