People Leader Eval

How good or poor performer is your people leader? Do you have a good people leader or a useless one? Do you think the company should reduce these numbers of useless micro manager supervisors and managers?

The constant layoffs mask the poor performance of people leaders. Rather than coach and teach weaker performers to excel the weaker performer is let go. The quality of people leaders needs to be reviewed. Performance of the people leader should not be based on riding the backs of their direct reports. They should indicate what they did, or didn't do that contributed to metrics and objectives. Employee feedback on their people leader should be considered in measuring performance.

My people leader is a hard working and very knowledgeable professional. He knows I work hard too and he largely leaves me alone. I have absolutely no complaints.

Not all people leader are bad, some are ok but my last people leader should have been awarded a throphy for best acting. The person was the most incompetent boss I ever had in my entire working life. It was like a weekly drama series for about a year or so and I wonder if someone higher should have caught that instead of believing all the lies and drama. The person was the single most expensive employee the company had ever had because the week wouldn’t end where we don’t get emails of: working from home because I have a sick family member, I have to take someone to the doctor today, I am sick (a day or two at a time), I have an emergency at home, I have an appointment, I have to wait for the plumber, my kitchen appliance broke down, I will be on a training (a day or two at a time), and on and on and on. Funny thing, when the person was moved to a different position with no direct reports it seems like the person is present at work for most part now. And the best part of all, on the person’s mind it says “ I am at a point where I can walk the talk”. I almost laugh when I heard it. Well, I am glad the drama was over and I am optimistic the current one can actually walk the talk.

The PL in my area also want to micro manage you to death so they look good. Not a very positive person either. When times are good its easy to beat your chest. When times are bad it exposes who you really are. This article fairly sums up the current state of affairs. HR needs to measure employee satisfaction and take action.

My PL is a narcissistic. Therefore, pretty much the only person they lead or promote/recognize is themselves. Can’t even begin to sort out/classify the inappropriate, inefficient and negligent behavior displayed. Little to no respect demonstrated. Difficult to maintain engagement.

I'm not employed at Enbridge however I am in the same industry and have worked with that company. This industry is riddled with middle management problems.

My PL is useless, clueless, a micromanager and an a--hole. Get rid of all managers and supervisors, promote people who know something about the work that's being done.
