Thread regarding IBM layoffs

The Herald-Sun: Did IBM underpay its sales staff? Three lawsuits say yes. A jury could decide.

More of Big Bleu's legal woes making the press. . .

By IBM's account, the BB&T licensing contract was worth about $19 million. And the company

acknowledges it reduced Choplin's prospective commission by $269,569, paying him $348,487 for his role

in helping close the deal instead of $645,056.

Ummmmmmm. .. apparently Sales is where the big $$ is. . .

Nobody is making that much money on a 19 million dollar deal. That's crap

"I am amazed at how many people get paid on these deals"

Well Ginni makes a pretty good buck herself and she's been driving IBM into the red for how long?

No quota for her it seems.

If you miss two consecutive calendar halfs you are out on a PIP even though you could have made the annual udget.

Future quotas are based on past results, so these sales people would have received larger quotas in 2016 and 2017 based on these 2015 results. When you win a large deal like they did you have no opportunity in those accounts for years. This happened to me, crushed quota on a $70M deal in 1st half of 2015, was a 1 performer for the year, and was RA'd in fall 2016 because I did not make my inflated quota in the Fall of 2015 or Spring of 2016.

I really don’t feel bad for the “small” amount of money he’s been paid. IBM Sales have been selling snake oil for years - promising our customers that products can do things they were never designed to do.

I would steer every future acct far away from IBM if they ever pulled that on me.

How low can they go?

This probably falls under being agile.

The incentive plan, that you are required to sign or not get paid, has a bullets clearly defined. IBM can change this plan at any time.

I would take 200k any deal on a deal, that 100s helped you close.

I am amazed at how many people get paid on these deals. Many big companies will fire you rather than pay up even though they agree to do it up front.
