My condolences to any and all impacted by the layoff- by reputation Devon is a great employer, and will try to do right be these folks, I hope so at least. Two interesting points of note- Nowhere did Devon cry in it's beer about how the Oklahoma GPT is the culprit behind this move. And- selling off a couple of billion in resources sure does sound like taking advantage of the great capital gains exemption in this state- the one 600 individuals have used to pocket 480 million dollars without paying 5% tax on it, like everyone else does in the state on income. 40 other states have taxing on capital gains- but not Oklahoma, at least until a few last deals are made under the exemption umbrella.
