These are is my 2 cent predictions.
I doubt it very much the sale will be approved. We will be separated regardless.
If the deal goes through, Cogswell will let go of full time professors to make money.
If the deal does not, Devry will initiate teach out .
We are better off with the latter. It give us time to find other opportunities.
The Higher Learning Commission must approve of the "sale." It's part of the deal. They're paying very close attention to everything we do in order to make sure that this transfer is in the best interest of students and will not threaten our accreditation status.
I heard that some accreditation agency is coming to visit home office. Would the findings affect the sale?
For-profits can thrive in this environment if they stop being greedy. For-profits need to invest more in student retention and graduation rates. What will continue destroying for-profits is the student loan crisis. There are many state universities, private universities, and community colleges that have positioned themselves well to disrupt the for-profit market, and those institutions are a lot less costly. Unless for-profits can re-invent themselves, only a few really good ones will survive.
