Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

18 months to get it done

With all the changes SGAS is very lean now and has cut the overhead so in the long run people who are left in my opinion will make serious money the Brand itself is worth a fortune and with moving offshore it creates free clash flow at a minimum cost this is a financial play for the remaining folks just my two cents the people left will parachute out wealthy. What’s the old saying spare he few and get rid of the many it will be interesting just my two cents

the company is having trouble selling the San Ramon facility. Rumor has it that it continues to be a pesky thorn that bothers the failed captain Stern. He needs to dump it and dump it fast because its a financial drain. That whole team, by the way, is practically decimated.

Right until a customer is pushed to the model and realizes they won't be able to reach a real person (or not one that speaks English coherently) The online support model is just one more way to reduce headcount.

Apparently the company wants to hype the online support model as a successful implementation and mention it this way in trade shows and to customers. It’s a rumored PR stunt that the dear leaders are considering.

Being the poster things those left will "parachute out wealthy" the likely poster is Giggles Stern, Susan Lynch-ya, or one of the empty suits at the top who would be able to "parachute out wealthy"

Agree. The company should communicate and level with the employees that are left. Silence about the RIFs from the execs is leading to greater discontent.

Caught in the crossfire too. How funny is it that the company has to post things here for their own propaganda These posts are total bs regarding the good days are ahead. You’ve got morons running the place. An empty head and suit running sales and a board that checked out years ago. Good luck

Layed off to time to find another gig but need to look out for myself at this point. Hopefully I can find a new job soon to pay for my yacht and mansion payments.

That just sums up the last 12 months: "Every man for himself" Gone is the camaraderie and teamwork that was key to delivering for the customers. Even tight knit teams are now at each others throats. I've seen way too many hard working people get shown the door over the past year to change my opinion of this company and its so called "leaders". Don't let the door hit you in the A$$.

With all due respect you're failing to see that the company will not be able to make any money because of 1) a mountain of debt at astronomical interest rate 2) the brand has already been irreparably damaged by layoffs, terrible off-shore support 3) there is no product pipeline and there has not been anything meaningful in years 4) there are no products that can be sold at a competitive price 5) the leadership that is left are a bunch of "yes-MEN" megalomaniacs who will continue to make bad decisions driving remaining experienced staff and customers out the door.

Realistically the only one that will make any money by "parachuting" is Giggles Stern who has a $10M parachute written into his contract. Anyone else left when the lights go out will leave with the shirt on their backs. The only thing that will be "done" in 18 months will be the company.
