To be clear, all of the recent terminations have been layoffs.

Termination can mean being laid off (due to no fault of your own - i.e. restructuring or realignment), being fired (for performance, etc.), or self-termination (meaning you quit). In this case, and the entire purpose of this site, layoffs (with or without severance - and regardless of intent to rehire) has been the topic of discussion as of late.

That said - and this is a response to the "barnacles" statement, the layoffs over the past few months have been random, and performance wasn't taken into account. Many of the top 10% in multiple departments (based on performance) were laid off.

Termination can be laid off or fired. Fired generally does not get severance, while laid off does. The last round were layoffs, as the people leaving were invited to find another job within Staples and some of them did, so saying there was "no intent on rehire" is incorrect.

Terminations DO get severance. You are not informed correctly

People who are terminated do not get severance packages. These are layoffs.

These are not layoffs. They are terminations with no intent on rehire at any time. This site should be renamed to “staples terminations”

I have said multiple times that the IAM model has very little impact on the book of business, much less than we think, and cooperate has finally realized that. We got away with it for 10 years, time to get our boxes packed up, they are waisting money on us, and they know it.

Yes. Hitting the areas this time that barely got touched in the last round. Everybody around me is hoping to get a package and be on their way. Myself included. Sh--ty place.

Company spends most of its effort trying to cut costs by laying people off. Put that effort into changing to a business model that has evolved with the time. Idiots. Drive SALES.

don't worry. the real talent moved on many months ago.

that's why they have to do layoffs.

to get rid of the barnacles.
