Everybody seems convinced that a huge round of layoffs is coming to Viacom next week, but how can we be sure? If the quarterly results are positive, will they have a reason for layoffs?
I might be naive, but I chose to be optimistic, especially when we didn't have any concrete information but only rumors about the announced layoffs.
I am 100% certain that there will be layoffs and can also verify that there are indeed people high enough on the food chain on this board to have the paperwork. You only have to be high enough to have direct reports in an effected area

the better question is how many times are we going to have layoffs this year? This one is just to trim the fat and doesn't even take into account the CBS merger. Good luck to all -- especially if you work in a department whose services can be outsourced internationally.

I don’t believe anyone on this board is high enough on the food chain with actual paperwork on layoffs. Layoffs are inevitable with a merger. CBS is “buying” Viacom not the other way around. So we need to make room for them. Tuesday seems to be agreed upon date. Who knows.
