I'm just wondering why literally nobody is covering these layoffs? I've tried to find some official info on them, but there is absolutely nothing out there.
Are we not important enough to warrant a story? The lives of people who lost their livelihood not interesting enough?
This just makes me so freaking mad.
enbridge acquired spectra to compete with Transcanada. Here is the news flash Transcanada’s stock price has always been consistent with minimal layoffs. Enbridge is run by bunch of inefficient and inexperienced management.
There were layoffs in TEXAS FOR former spectra employees. At least 35 of them in compressor stations.
They were not allowed to return to there desk and walked out. Most of these ppl had between 20-30yrs of service.
Why did Enbridge buy spectra? Because Enbridge was sinking and needed a profitable company to s--- the life out off on its way down
They cut the Sr. from all the Sr.Managers during the BOEF process. Sherif didn’t simply update his linkedin profile (search his name in ELink or skype)You are either not an Enbridge person or very new to the company.
I feel the same way as the angry person. I myself was much like the step father the writer described. I put in countless hours of overtime, and put my heart and soul into the company, only to be unceremoniously laid off last year.
I learned that Enbridge management simply doesn’t care.
Sadly, most corporations are evil at heart. Sorry to hear your anger, angry person.

Someone in my family does work for Enbridge, or I should say, he DID work for Enbridge. That is until today, Jan 31, 2018!
This person was so proud to work for Enbridge. He is the hardest working person that I have ever known! He is the epitome of honesty, integrity, dedication, loyalty, and character! He could teach a freaking class in Ethics!
He always worked from home (or wherever he could connect to Wi-fi) even on holidays, vacation, & when out for personal illness! However, today he was ignorantly laid off by his “superiors”!
But, had he been allowed to work for 2 more years, he would have been able to retire with medical benefits for life! However, he & my mom now have to figure out how to pay out for all of his diabetic Meds that will cost thousands of dollars a month without prescription coverage! (Thanks Mr. Monaco)
FYI... #27th highest paid ceo in Canada -Enbridge Inc. - President & CEO-Al Monaco- $11,391,427.00. (I bet he gets to keep his medical benefits in addition to the $11.4 million he makes annually!
So, my Step Dad arrived at work this morning and was summoned to a conference room. Here he was told he could go home after he turned in his laptop, company truck, and company clothing . So, he did just that. Just like every other task he had been assigned to over the past 39 years, he did exactly what was asked of him! He handed in the keys to the truck that he NEVER ONCE parked in the street (per company policy)! He turned in the company laptop (which I had begun to believe was his 5th appendage). He was then insulted even further by having to be driven home by another employee...an employee who got to KEEP his job today.
He always went to every retirement party for each one of his co-workers. Then when it was HIS retirement day, a day that should have been celebrated for his 39+ years of loyalty to Enbridge, the day was sadly turned into a disgusting display of corporate greed.
Now that Enbridge has merged with Spectra energy, BE WARNED- Loyalty to exemplary employees is apparently NOT a priority! It doesn’t matter if you commit your LIFE to a company. They can never repay you for that time! NOR are they required to do the RIGHT or ETHICAL thing, so they probably won’t! Even though Enbridge expects ethical behavior from their employees, don’t expect the same in return!
There is no media coverage because Enbridge didn't report the lay offs. Media can't report what they do not know

Companies only need to report layoffs of 50 people or greater. Given the number and locations this round may be stealth firings. Therefore it may not go to the news. If however the company wants to pump up the stock price with employee blood then you should see a news article tomorrow. (Or As soon as it’s finished) I bet some people called in sick today. Haha

I think those of you that think the layoffs are fake news may be out of the loop ,I would be wondering what that means for you. As for a senior manager to claim no layoffs I wonder what sand is your head in.

I can confirm that all of this talk is totally fake news. As a Senior Manager who regularly paricipates in the ELT meetings, there have been no layoffs. Thus there is no media coverage as there is no story to report.
I regularly follow this site but I felt I needed to step in to stop all the false news which only contributes to employee stress.
I don't think there has actually been any layoffs. I've chatted with several managers in different building around North America and it seems no one has any solid details. This site is just filled with fake news
