They are still cutting jobs in the stores.... Yeah I’m sure that’s going to do wonders for customer service.
So let me get this straight. They’ve fired tons of people in ISD and outsourced labor to either H1Bs or Bangalore. Meanwhile our systems still s--- and the website is hard to shop compared to Amazon. Check.
We’ve poured money and headcount into dot com but it’s still only around five percent of the business. Check.
We spent billions on other dot com companies to help boost online sales. But once we’ve started comping ourselves, we stop growing as fast. Check.
Meanwhile the store business, which has been growing and is the heart of the business, is being hollowed out to blow money on strategies that don’t appear to be working in the dot com arena. Check.
By the way, if Walmart were really smart, they’d be pushing for higher wages and more vacation for workers. What do they think created the middle class? Customers with money and free time shop.
Customers without free time seek out convenience (Amazon) and cheap goods (Aldi/Lidl). The decline of the middle class will be what kills Walmart-not its competitors.
