I agree. Give the guy a chance. I was encouraged by the transparency and candidness. Sensed a spark of hope. It’s easy to tear things down. I’m going to give everything I have to support this guy. With Shira leaving, we lost a person who, in fact, on a personal level, is one of the kindest people you could ever be fortunate enough to meet in a lifetime. She cared about people- but also had to run a business. I sense Sandy cares about people, too, and knows something about running a business well. I could find something to complain about and, yes, I lost several friends in the recent layoff. That’s life folks. I’m going to be a positive force. I choose to have a Coke and a Smile.
I understand why some people like to live in a dream world but I don’t understand the animosity towards your peers who have a different point of you than you. The one’s that appear negative are attacking the company’s proven failure to achieve, and the one’s standing up for the company are attacking their fellow associates who don’t agree. It’s obvious why a company with this sort of divide between its employees is where it is right now.
Bunch of disgruntled negative people on here. News flash, who gives a Sh-- if more layoffs happen? Like really. Ok they happen, find another job. This is a very easy process. If you are still there make your money and ride it out till there is no more IF that time even comes. You never know what to expect. No sense in worrying about it
You can wallow in your negativity and self pity all you want to and that choice defines you. However I chose a path of optimism and hope. I can’t control the future but I can control my attitude, outlook and contribution. I am sure this post will draw lots of venom.
I don’t understand why everyone is so upside down about every little thing. Everybody relax. I am sure there is still a little time left for Staples as a company . Sure it is not the same as the “ good old days” when the company was expanding like crazy and the stock split every year or so. That was a different time , when the founder ran the company. Some people even described the company as a truly amazing company back then. It was a people oriented company according to some. The organization has moved on. Now it’s Private , and a lot of you think private is a good thing . It is . But generally when it STARTS THAT WAY and remains that way. It is rarely a good thing to go from public to private. You’ll see ...stick around . It won’t be long.
