Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

VMware to buy Dell? Lol!

VMware buying Dell is another low IQ move out of Round Rock. The laptop sellers have no idea how to drag themselves out of the debt hole, thanks for nothing Bain, so wrecking VMware is going to be the next thing they try.

And they will wreck VMware, but don't worry Dell dullards, Pivotal and Boomi will be the next big things in tech...hahahahahahaha!

We are all thinking of joining start ups or starting our own business here. Dell has nothing to offer. Nobody is holding the fort. Only senile old boy management throwing tantrums and pointing fingers. How many times have they fired developers and techies that are in line with the not so new innovative direction then promoting family members (cousins, nephews, nieces, wives) and b---s--- talkers talk talk talk sh--ty talk and doesnt go anywhere just wasting doers time but the senile management love it. Talk = work. Brilliant.

Most of these corporate big wigs have as much intelligence and decision making abilities as drivers screaming in road rage. Most of these people are addicted to coc--ne and other psychotropic drugs. Our life decisions are taken by a bunch of drug addicts.

Like all common wage slaves I believed that people involved in these high level corporate decisions like privatization and m&a as some super intelligent species. Unfortunately this illusion has been shattered in my six year tenure at Dell. I now believe that Michael dell has succeeded only through sheer luck. His idiotic decision of buying EMC is a vase which validates my inference. After looking at JC and realizing that he is a clown in corporate clothing my illusions have shattered. I have resigned from this madhouse to join a start up.

Michael Dell is one hit wonder. Could not be included in the class of Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. Once Dell adviced Steve Jobs to shutdown Apple and return the money to shareholders.

Dell doesn't care about innovation, why are we paying so much for R&D. Our Opex can do some trimming.

All three options are a turd. Especially if VMW Stock is involved. Combined Dell and EMC only worth $15b in market cap? Wow. Thats not good.

Current VMW market cap is ~50b. Assuming that the current price stays stable, then MD's stake is worth approx $40b. If he were to get bought for the full $40b, then in theory he could sell up to $40b worth of stock to pay down debt.

Of course, this numbers would never hold, as if it were formally announced, VMW would tank more, and if he floated the full 80% remaining on the market the price would fall. Maybe at the end he could realistically pay down ~$20-$25b?

MD already owns 80% of VMW. So its not like VMW is buying Dell like dell bought EMC. Its simply a transaction where MD transfers his VMW ownership into actual stock, then selling that on the open market to pay down debt. Its like taking equity out of one asset to pay down debt on another. MD and team will still be in charge. Unclear what VMW stock would look like to do, once it encapsulated all of Dell Technologies. It would certainly go down, as the growth rates and margin for VMW are much higher than the rest of Dell. So, get ready for a sh-- show VMW shareholders!! Already down 25%.

Even if it does happen, still lot of debt would be left. Any guesses on the left-over debt?

Nobody knows what will happen.

They may have floated the VMWare "news" to see how it would fly in the market. They got their answer: it took the VMW stock down ~15%. So much for that strategy... Next...

I almost hope that happens, just to see how Dell handles "being bought". The dismissive behavior towards EMCers after the acquisition ('cause supposedly they got pwned) has been terrible for morale, not to mention productivity. Wonder how much that had to do w/ the merger floudering... Not the whole story, of course, but perhaps part of it.

I'm tossing bags of popcorn in the microwave. Anybody want some? This is gonna be an interesting show.

Don't believe everything you read. Dell might go public; but not by being bought out by VMware.

EMC and Dell has nothing in common either culturally and product wise. Still buy and slaughter both sides. I remembered asking a VP during an Open Q&A during the hoo haa we so f---ing awesome period, how would the difference in work culture handled and what our new culture be like. Nothing. Because we all know no effort is given.

Acquiring or being acquired is the same thing for Dell. It is going to be an effort to save Dell. Unfortunately, VMware and Dell have nothing in common culturally. They will be no synergies getting created when culture and value aren't the same. Every company acquired by Dell in years have gone under or disappeared. There is a pattern here. The business model have been wrong and outdated. Dell is famous for extreme cost cutting and offshoring, when brain draining starting to show, it is no turning back. No brains going to work for Dell. Will be sad to see VMware becoming or part of another victim. But when one company is down, it creates another opportunity for others. At the end, it is all good.

VMWare has the money to buy Dell. The question is if Dell purchase will ever pay off.

But why would VMWare wants Dell? The management's outdated, the skills are drained to the core, it is not making money and the culture is toxic.
