Getting an ex Coke Exec is great news ! Are you kidding me.....it is AWESOME news . Now Staples will have Liquid Armor in 2 liter bottles , 1 Quart bottles , 16 ounce bottles , 12 ounce cans .....in regular , diet , zero calories , vanilla flavored and more . It will be called “ NEW COKE “........oh wait , that failed .
I can see it all now ...another infamous “ reflow “ to give Liquid Armor in all it’s new sizes at least 1000 facings , like Coke in the local supermarket. Imagine all the brilliant Marketing that will be going on .....like the 2 liter Liquid Armor going on sale for 99cents one week , and being at the everyday LOW price of $1899.95 the next week . That’s the kind of innovation Staples needs and will more than likely get. ONLY KIDDING .... the new guy will do nothing .
From the Bain Stain to the Coke Joke. More of the same visionless, inane, tired leadership BS the US is quickly becoming famous for.
You don't let a CEO go without having someone take their place. Of course Sycamore already had the person picked out. Just wish that I saw that job posting online for the CEO.
He announced his "retirement" from Coke at the end of October, with his last day there on march 1st. He likely already had this role lined up, prior to making this decision. Sycamore has had the CEO replacement plan in the works since then.
This dude retired from Coke and is now reincarnated to save staples?
WTF
This is just a short term stint for this guy.
Sycamore is speeding up plans to unload this POS company.
If you guys can’t see the writing on the wall now your are blind. Had they hired a younger and more dynamic person with an ecommerece background I would have believed they actually cared about this business. This is all about taking cost out of the business, optimizing the sales force to a level just above slave labor and packaging this s---er up to sell to the highest bidder (I.e. Max Profits) Don’t let them make their ROI on your backs. It’s GoTime folks!
“Sandy’s extensive experience in the sales, marketing and merchandising of fizzy sugar water in cans makes him the perfect candidate to lead our office supply business , which we really care very little about , other than it is an investment we’ll sell some day, because that is what investors do, they buy and sell investmants , and that is what we will do at Staples after we rip another 2 or 3 hundred million of costs out of the already threadbare ranks and put ungodly pressure on the rank and file folks to sell sell sell, so we can say we improved the business before we sell it ....blah blah blah “ says John What’shisname From Sycamore Partners .
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz OMG . How boring is this story .
Finally, someone who worked at and ran a large company well. Let's be honest, Shira did not have the knowledge or experience for this job. She promoted a CTO who had no technical experience and allowed him to con her into thinking he could deliver. All he did was subject the company to liability for conducting himself both professionally and personally in a questionable manner. Hopefully things will improve.
Sandy is a pu--ycat. No one should worry.
Prepare yourselves for great times. Sycamore’s plans continue as planned.
Well this is a huge relief. I'm sure everything will be fine now.
Sure. I haven't been paying that much attention since the Sycamore transaction. What's been happening? Changes? Assume focus on profit vs. sales. mtownsend9@bloomberg.net
Did you need some information, Matt?
This is Matt Townsend. I've been covering the Staples saga for Bloomberg News. mtownsend9@bloomberg.net.
Good hire
the red shirts always die first.
He probably owns plenty of red shirts since he is from Coca-Cola!!! Maybe S.G's red Friday's will continue.
