Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

Work environment is a war zone

Overall message I’ve received at Western Digital is that we are inexpensive labor that can be easily disposed of. It doesn’t matter how much talent we have, I’ve been told on numerous occasions that am lucky to have a job. As if I and others on my team are not aware of pending layoffs.

Also witnessed some in management who will pit colleagues against each other and don’t think of helping. If you do, chances are you will get the blame if things go wrong. Yet if you put in the hard work and dedication as some of us have the credit you deserve will be given to someone else. This is sad but true. I don’t know what’s worse. Working in this environment or being laid off. Only time will tell I guess.

Right? This is true on software department. No matter how much talent you have. Management does not have any goals for employees. They hire and they do not know what to expect from employees. Management support few people whom they know and they support only them and they make sure they are safe, all others get trashed. It is waste of time and useless to work. Find the job and move on.

I am a former employee who got laid off but managed to find another job soon after, My advice to the current employees is to just put your effort in finding another job, before the job market dries up. The longer you wait at WD, the fewer the available jobs that you can apply to.

This is so true about working at Western Digital. Employees are treated as disposable goods.
