Thread regarding Kmart layoffs

Clarification

For stores that still have the Shoes Lead and Fine Jewelry Lead what has been the trend with those positions. We are seeing that in other areas they will be changed to coordinators but what is the difference from being a lead? Also if they do not want the new title, which we see they have to reapply for, are they offered a package?

I was the Footwear Lead when I was let go in February 2016. They offered me a redefined position in Softlines. I don't remember if it was called Coordinator, but basically it was still running Footwear and doing a lot more elsewhere in Softlines. I did not accept said position.

For me the difference was that I strictly ran the Footwear department. I had an understanding with the managers that I ran that department only, and not in areas that required cashiering, which terrifies me. In exchange to no cashiering, I offered to get carts and do some carry outs if the regular people were not available, or if the regulars needed another person if items were large/heavy. Plus I did help out on truck day. They were cool with that. 90% of the time I was in Footwear, where I belonged. It was a mutual setup that benefited all parties.

I'm sure the Footwear Lead workload varies by store. One woman in my district was at the Service Desk a lot. Whether she offered to do it, or was ordered to, I do not know. So it depends.

Regarding severance package, I did get that, plus any unused vacation remaining.
