Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

Sungard AS January 2018 Layoffs

Does anyone have a list of teams that were RIF'd on Friday? Anyone have any knowledge of who or what teams might be next?

As opposed to companies I've worked for before who were transparent about layoffs, Stern and friends will never communicate the who or why of RIFs.

The only way to find out who is no longer around is to follow up on emails with team leads as the NAB isn't even purged of those who are let go.

I have been through 2 major company layoffs. 1 in 2004 and then 2017. I would have HOPED that American corporations would have come up with a solution by now.

Luckiy no one wants to buy SgAS with a CCC- credit rating, $1.5B in debt, and no product.

Just wait until AS files Chapter 11. Can you imagine customers trusting their DR to a bankrupt company?

I’m in Sales and have had several of my clients say their biggest concern for a disaster was having to declare a disaster and Sungard AS not being able to support them. I’m truly tired of making excuses for poor Operations support, failed solution delivery and vapid leadership, including sales managers and Sales VPs. Stop asking for the forecast quite so much and see if there is something you can do to provide actual value for our customers. This place is toxic and completely disfunctional. Time to get out clearly. Working on it. We all are!! Last one out, turn out the lights.

"Giggles Stern" -> Good one! Someone needs to call these jokers out at the Kickoff

Kickoff theme was to be : We Got This. New Kickoff Theme : We Got RIFs. Should interesting to see Giggles Stern and Empty Suit Binford spin this mess. No products, no delivery, no leadership. Race to zero. Customers know what is going on. It’s over.

They always do the major annual layoff right before the kickoff. They don't want to spend the money on the extra people that are being let go. That said, never has Sales been kicked this hard from a layoff perspective - kickoff this year will be quite interesting. I'll let you know how it is and what the general tone is.

Interesting that the last major layoff was almost exactly one year ago. Not really sure what to make of that, other than maybe huge debts have 1 year anniversaries, but that seems long. I know they've continued to hire at the same time they are getting rid of good people, which is odd.

(A really interesting listen about what makes a good CEO: http://freakonomics.com/podcast/become-c-e-o/)

There are some truly great people at SGAS. Unfortunately, their leadership is far too focused on their own pockets and short-term revenue. They are in a continual state of panic, and have changed direction too quickly and too many times, resulting in a very unstable company.

This will not end well, it is just a matter of time. The fact no company is interested tells you plenty. The bleeding can't be stopped. Soon you will not even get severance. Once chapter 11 is filed it is usually followed by chapter 7 read up on it it's a fact. Even after chapter 11 they can stop contributing to 401k more layoffs and pay cuts vacation time can be taken away also.

If the debt numbers are correct there is no other option but bankruptcy. This will drive more customers away. Can you imagine customers trusting a bankrupt company to be there incase of a disaster? I can't

No pending sale is in the works, while management and the PE's would LOVE to unload the company on some unsuspecting s---er there is too much debt. 1.5 BILLION give or take, revenues below 1B annually now, and huge interest payments on the debt make a sale untenable. Core teams are shrinking in size at a rapid pace, the clock is winding down. Thanks Andy, you really screwed this up.

in the NAB, search for a name, and if they have both their address and another one with the prefix vfe, they are gone.

don't search for just vfe.....way too many results.

So Sad.

In addition to the list above, Cloud Specialists' team was completely fired, plus at least 1 known SE manager.
