There are only 17K HPE employees in the US?

Someone ran an LDAP script and came up with 16,892 US employee count. If there are only 50K HPE employees, this means that there are only 34% in the US. During Carly's time, she wanted a 60 US/40 WW mix. Then Hurd changed it to 40 US/60 WW. I heard Meg wants 20 US/80 WW. I wonder if Antonio will make it a reality. WFR's are continuing. Learned lately of a few friends in Storage who got their notices on the day after MLK holiday.

The cloud needs storage too, and the backups. It's just that storage is is supposed to happen automagically for cloud customers.

That said, storage has been a commodity for a long time.

Sorry but why wouldn't you get rid of storage? The market wants cloud based offerings and storage is dying fast. This page is loaded with dinosaurs who though their tech would last forever, didn't keep up to date with trends and now are b--ching.

Well at least HPE can say it's a global company with operations all over the world. Meg is no angel but I agree the incompetence of Mark Hurd and Leo Apotheker to turn it into a consulting and software company caused it to lose focus and to unravel.

Let is not forget CF, who said that HP was a global company and that Americans didn't have a right to a job. This string of bad CEOs HP has endured makes one really miss LP. Rest in peace, LP, you were the last "HP Way" CEO.

You are right, Herd is worst of the worst CEOs the company has ever had. His policies hurt the employees beyond anything you can imagine. Karma will catch up to him eventually.

I'm hanging around until I get WFR'd for my 23 years of service. I have had more than a dozen face to face interviews but none of them gave me an offer in my area. All of them kept asking and want to make sure I am still employed at HPE. Guess what? Those that got WFR'd got job offers and at the minimum or near the minimum of the salary range for the job. Companies will not offer the max or a salary bump for an HPE employee unless they are very desperate. The other I will consider is to work as a contractor for an employment agency and be paid much more.

US employees lost most of their most valued benefits during Hurd's tenure (he even took 5% off our salary while doing so, laying off tons of people and screwing up R&D - all at the same time, and in such a short period of time). In my personal opinion he has been our worst CEO (at least Meg knew what she was doing since day one - this clown didn't have a clue).

Look at what he has done to Oracle - especially their HW business. This guy will never be a good CEO, because his strategic vision is not aligned to the role. He might be an "efficient" Operational robot, but he is definitely not strategic. Looking back, I know believe Leo was the only one that had the right vision, although his lack of operational skills stopped him without even starting (but thanks for giving that 5% back to us, Leo!) He would have split the Company as Meg did (and most probably get rid of the commercial HW business as well), but the big, huge difference is that he would have pursued a mega-merger with SAP, and I bet our present would have been very different now. Instead of getting rid of the software and consulting business, those would have been our core businesses now, and our future would have looked much, much better. BTW, one of the biggest regrets of my career was not accepting a job offer with SAP years ago and staying with HP/HPE.

In terms of Antonio... Well, he was Meg's right arm and he was selected to finalize the execution of what she planned. The next two years in HPE will be brutal for employees until it eventually disappears. Thinking otherwise is just dumb and too risky for you and your beloved ones. Stop risking the future of YOUR family. Get out of there as soon as you can!

Screwed up the majority are in low cost tax havens like India, Mexico, and Costa Rica. I thought Trumps tax plan was going to bring back jobs but it was only going to line pockets of the corporations.
