After 11 years with BFDS, I was offered and accepted a job offer with another company on Tuesday. Wednesday I asked my manager for a few minutes of their time and was told "we'll talk later". On Thursday I asked twice and was again ignored. Late Friday I went into their office and interrupted their game of Freecell to give my two week notice. I was told how disappointed they were in my decision as "you weren't being targeted" and how it was going to impact the group. I was asked where I was going which I decided not to share. I was also asked not to discuss openly with anyone until upper management was informed.

Update: I received a call late afternoon Sunday from HR in Kansas City informing me that my email and badge access had been deactiviated and I would not be allowed access to the building. I would still receive a paycheck for the 2 weeks I gave notice, but not until I mail back my keys and badge. My belongings would be sent to my home. I called a few times yesterday to speak with my manager and after the third call I left a voicemail that the badge and keys were on their way and there was nothing in my desk that needed to be returned as I had cleared that stuff out.
