Any chance McDermott will be moving to the woodlands. People at cbi are saying there is plenty of room.

Dave lives in Memorial area, he ain't commuting to Woodlands. MDR and CBI are in completely different domains; you need to be brain dead to think there are synergies in between. It is a merger of equally bad organizations, nothing good materialize. It is like HP merging with Compaq, which ended up closing Compaq, forcing the giant HP to make printers to survive. I am still hoarding my collection of old HP calculators.... When skeletons in the closets are pulled out; it will not be a pretty scene; give it 2 years....
Make sure the new head quarters is in the energy cooridor and you’ll see the poor decision makers at CBI finally suffer and hopefully leave (if DD doesn’t releas them today). Big egos and bad leadership built the huge glass buildings in the woodlands away from all the customers.
Walk into the parking lot and you’ll see that visitor parking(aka customer parking) is in the back and they have to dodge the heavy worker traffic just to see the Porsche, BMW, Audi lot where the so called leaders park. Tells you a lot about how CBI got into this position. Very few exceptions (there are a few).
Most people see the issues but are too scared to say anything or brainwashed in Cbi culture. All VPs and higher need to get cut with no severance.
CB&I’s q4 report should be submitted tomorrow Feb 22nd
Interesting comment regarding CBIs head of supply chain. Know a couple of people over there that are impatiently waiting for the market to pick up so they can bail. They said that most of the “processes” are all smoke and mirrors and that there is no real value add or teamwork with just subservient obedience expected and demanded. Hopefully McDermott guys will see through the BS.
I would think both CB&I and McDermott should be concerned. One is not safe over the other. I have heard both companies have non performers, duplication of work and although I am at McDermott, I know several good folks at CBI who are sharp. They have to have a location desirable to both. This is not a acquisition, this is a combination folks. Naturally there is duplication in some departments, but CBI is probably triple the workload over McDermott. They are heavy domestic. I try to stay mutual. No one is safer than the other. May the best survive and mediocre move on, from both companies so a new company can come togeather and do great things. Location is key for both sides, and impacts everyone. But don't just assume that Dave will rid of CBI folks, they have PWC reviewing each department, on both sides for duplication, and then who best fills their role. I think a lot of folks will be surprised when the dust settles. Department heads have met to discuss already. We are all just waiting for the ball to drop.
Did anyone see CB&I’s q4 report? I hope Dave has a plan to gut their management. I have heard only bad things about Supply Chain and Construction. Yes they have all these fancy processes but they mean nothing. It is all a facade driven by a tyrannical Vice Presidents that only care about perception. What is the latest update on what company will steer each department when the dust settles?
Woodlands - new energy cooridor? Then why is 45 s always backed up? That’s ok we didn’t need you.
I am also unsure how CBI justified moving to The Woodlands, they sure as hell didn't ask me.
So I take you MDR has already moved back to its offices on Eldridge or are you all still working out of the GE offices?
You are behind the times. The Woodlands/Spring area is the NEW energy corridor. Both old and new corridors will continue to bring O&G business into greater Houston area.
I-10...flood much?
Must be a cbi question below. Our offices are located in the energy cooridor where all business takes place. I’m not sure how a customer driven business like yours justified moving to the woodlands but the results shows location, location, location.
Have you all at MDR heard anything about whether y'all will be moving back to the office on Eldridge? I would hope MDR tries to find some office location in a central part of town for the new entity.
Most all of mcdermott s senior staff live in Katy
Woodlands highly unlikely
Um no. The cbi woodlands office will be gone in 18 months. Every single person. MDR is houston based.
