Yeah but they said if I help with the transformation, then there's something in it for me! They said there's something in it for ME!
So this isn’t happening ?
Remember to put in two weeks notice if leaving, DST would do the same for you.
And considering it's better to get in the job market now instead of when it's flooded with other DST'ers...
It's been one lie after another with the CEO and the messages & videos. They DO NOT value staff. They want you to remain until the transition is done then eff off. And if you have any thought that SS&C will value you, guess again.
There was a time when the layoffs hit low performers, but since then ( years ago )
what has transpired is a subtle cutthroat game of knives. And everyone is so overworked and overstressed yet it is human to have the innate fear of losing a job you worked so long to get seniority. Now, now it's about bus throwing your buddy or good performers that make a certain salary tier? Simply, you think if you cut enough in your group YOU will be safe, but then eventually the same thing happens to you. It is long past making cuts that make sense, its now about money and survival. And of course, you still have these little protected bubbles hat never get hit. There are some real and I mean some real waste of space people making a lot of money that should have been cut long LONG before others. But politics exist and who is chosen is not whats best for the team in all cases.
Also, is there really any guarantee severance will still be given? What is going on in parts of DST reminds me of people opening wonka bars hoping they get the golden layoff ticket. I am only of the "lucky" Golden ticket winners. And while I can say I am thankful for the severance, and was able to bank some of it and boy let me tell you my life is a 100% better now - the experience leading up to getting laid off was torture. And, experiencing the job market that is a completely new world was exciting and also stressful. It all worked out but trust me, it is a dangerous gamble just sitting around waiting for the ticket.
The ship is already underwater, Wake up and do something already. Don't care who you are, how busy you are, how good you think you are TRUST me, you have been considered for a cut. I was part of the process......
They never notify! That would be humane!
You will not receive any notification. They only have to I that when more than 50% in one department is let go.
January 31st? The groups in Quincy that will be broken up have not received their 30 day notice, so I'm not agreeing with this statement.
Any thoughts on what the severance will be?
Looks like it's going to be the 31st, Black Wednesday. I heard Hooly mention $50 million cost cutting, that's 500 jobs at least. HODL (hold on for dear life) everyone! To all those who get cut, enjoy the severance, to everyone else, s---s to be you!
From an earlier post: “and if you are a low performer or are overpaid for what you do or have some other issue like not being able to get along with others or don’t work full time (or don’t show up full time) you’re at the top of the list.”
Nope. I was none of the above and still got cut. Nobody is safe. My advice is to take home your personal belongings now as you probably won’t be allowed to go back and get them. An HR person packed up my space but several items, including photos of my kids, were not returned to me.
Agreed on the longer time available to plan, but, the crappy part is the amount of time and effort many of us put in here only to get f---ed in the end because our greedy CEO wasn't wish enough.
No one has been notified of SH%#!!! The good news is DST should be losing the lady CIO because she is a low performer, overpaid and baggage.
What’s the point of this post? Groups that will be start seeing impacts the soonest have already been notified and if you are a low performer or are overpaid for what you do or have some other issue like not being able to get along with others or don’t work full time (or don’t show up full time) you’re at the top of the list. Those people probably know who they are already anyway. As for ‘wishing you didn’t’ survive the cut. Why? Gives you more time to plan your next move in life. Sure, your group is going to be even shorter staffed than it is now but you’re still going to clock out at 5:00 anyway. The atmosphere will surely be even more unpleasant than it has been but it’ll only get to you if you let it. We have had ample time to get our finances in order and not one person should be surprised when issued notice. If you are living in fear of the inevitable you need to do some serious self reflection and figure out why, at this point, you are so afraid of losing this job. This isn’t the company that it once was and never will be. My advice- make the most of the time you still have here and make sure you have a plan for what you’ll do next.
Explain? Layoffs? Will it hit mutual funds?
Why is that?
