Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Now what?

Now that the storm is over, anybody has any ideas what's next?

Does anybody actually believe that these layoffs will solve anything?

I'm pretty sure we will go back to same old, same old, before the brilliant idea of having some more layoffs rears its ugly head again.

Rinse and repeat.

I love the narrative now gaining popularity on this site... layoffs are good and natural. I liove layoffs, don't you love layoffs. Layoffs make us happy. I think I'll volunteer for a layoff. Hahaha

That's the HR TROLLS trying to tamp down all you folk that know how badly this company has been screwed.

Sycamore is here to make a profit, within six months will see more changes more people let go, the new CEO is what we call a “cleaner” lean, lean, lean bottom line get all $ possible out of Staples the first two quarters, next they will look to sell the Canadian division, next will be NAD probably not until 2019, they may hold on to retail for while, the best thing is secure your selves now while there are still jobs available elsewhere. This is only a prediction, do what you thinks it’s right for you.

Second round layoffs won’t have nearly as good of a severance package.

"The layoffs aren't meant to solve anything. They are meant to massively replace the existing workforce with contractors who can be dropped at any minute when the new buyer gets whatever piece is first broken off Staples to be sold."

I absolutely agree with this!!

Yeah they'll help to cut duplicate roles and non profitable roles and free up capital for more profitable departments like account management. Nothing unusual about reallocation of funds from one area to another.

I would say 8 out of 10 people I talk to in the office is done with this place and looking outside. I have landed something else and giving my notice soon. My first time on this site - spend your time looking for a new job instead.

SAME old same old... but worse as layoff frequency/# of FTE’s rapidly increase. Will you stay to turn the lights off in the end!? No thank you.
