Thread regarding Burlington Coat Factory layoffs

Punished for having a life

Burlington is my first job while I am in college and I am finding it difficult for my manager to work with my schedule. The extra hours are great IF i don’t have other priorities - however most of the time I do. When I tell my manager that I can’t come in I suddenly find myself with less hours the following week.

I average roughly 15-20 hrs a week and when this happens it usually gets cut in half. When I applied for this company I specifically stated that I had a strict schedule I had to adhere to and management at the time said they would accomodate me.Had I known this was a consequence of having other priorities I definitely would have looked elsewhere.

When they cut your hours it is a form of retaliation. Retaliation is illegal and primary unacceptable in companies that know the law.
Retailation is common place in Burlington Stores.
They should make main Store Managers hourly. Most do nothing beneficial for the store. If hours are based on the day's truck, why are you giving less hours to staff that processes , puts out and handles the merch all the way to sales leaving the store. Manager had little to nothing to do with any of those steps. Clapping or screaming is not useful or worth a salary.
