Thread regarding Technicolor layoffs

Technicolor to lay off 160 employees

In case somebody missed it, Technicolor will lay off 160 employees starting with March 17. They will be let go from Olyphant plant, which makes me wonder if anybody will be left there afterwards.

Just over a dozen cars and pickups speckled a barren parking lot on Tuesday where thousands of workers once battled for spaces.

Technicolor Home Entertainment Services paused operations temporarily on Tuesday after notifying workers they would be laid off later this year. The France-based technology corporation will soon vacate its 1 million-square-foot Olyphant compact disc duplication and packaging plant.

A notice posted to the state Department of Labor & Industry website says the plant at 1400 E. Lackawanna Ave. will lay off 160 workers starting March 17.

Starting in 2007, former owner Cinram Manufacturing began trimming its Olyphant employee roster, but in its heyday the plant was the county’s largest manufacturer with around 4,000 workers.

There you have it...

Annihilation.
