If only a small number of yes people in management or people who are friends and family of the key execs are in top management, then why would anyone want to stay at this company as a career ? Clearly it is only those with HS degrees or people who are entrenched here in Columbus. There is no other reason unless they are brain washed. There are little to no raises or promotions and you are treated like an indentured servant. Ridicule, threats, intimidation is the corporate culture. Man just leave, it's not changing. They've evidently operated like this for at least the past 10 to 15 years. Just saying.

People just like leaving by 5 every day.
Withholding decent market pay and promotional opportunities based on merit has created a culture of desperate employees bowing down and worshipping execs in an effort to be seen, favored and trusted. Leadership enjoys this power imbalance and brainwashes employees into thinking their leaders possess a charisma they never can attain. Certain members of leadership rely on this to hide their lack of knowledge or inability to stand up to their own bosses. This is usually at the VP level. I think a lot of managers and sr managers try but are busy playing politics to keep their own jobs. In the production areas employees are treated like children. And if you're in a dept that has access to shady dealings in the company, well you better pretend to be ok with that
They do discriminate against white makes. More so pass them over to promote "diversity" to garner accolades and whatnot. It is disgusting and HR ignores it.
If you are a white male, you’re not going anywhere at Aflac. They openly discriminate against white males, and nothing can be done about it. It is by far the worst environment I have personally ever experienced. I’m stuck in Columbus, so I have very few options. They are trying desperately to remain on the “Great places to work” list, hence the 401k news and early promotion of EAW. I believe many of us see through the smokescreen, but there’s nothing that can be done. The latest round of promotions just proves how laughable this company is.
Columbus does not have a great job market, which Aflac and HR know. They use this as a tool to keep salaries as low as possible. Unless of course, someone's friend is coming into the company. When people from Atlanta ask about salary for a given role, they laugh thinking it's a joke. It is, but not a laughable one. Personal time off is the lowest of any Fortune 250. Pretending they are doing something groundbreaking with the 401K match, when in reality, Aflac is simply playing catchup to what is baseline in Corporate America today. Just wait until EAW is over and the next IT layoff is announced. I mean, displacements...
People stay either because they've tried to leave and can't find other work, or it's just easier to float along with the current. Human nature wants the easy path. It's easy to believe that one day the hard work will pay off.
They stay because they're been convinced they can't get jobs anywhere else. Here's another duck for your cube--see how much we care about you?
