Altice defends DTT record after critical Anacom report

Altice has defended its delivery of the DTT service in Portugal following a critical report by the regulator Anacom. The report found that the service was falling short of expectations in certain areas, and suggested that Altice's Meo faced a conflict of interest, as it's also active on the DTH and IPTV markets.

Altice said in a statement reported by Jornal de Negocios that the company has met all the quality targets in its contract with the government for the digital TV service. A report issued by Anacom in early 2017 also found the quality and reliability of the signal was very good, Altice noted.

The company also rejected any idea of a conflict of interest, saying at no time was its running of the DTT service affected by issues elsewhere in the business.

The Anacom report looked at how the DTT programming offer could be extended. It suggested that Meo's other activities could make the company reluctant to support the introduction of more channels or features on the DTT platform.
