Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Just a little perspective

Here’s a quote from SG herself:

“It must be nice to have a job for life” then adding “those days are over, this country can’t afford to do business as usual.”

This says a lot.

Staples DID set her up for life with her multimillion dollar payout when she exits, along with her cronies. It does exist. Just not for the average person.

“Lay Offs s--- but new opportunities always exist. Albeit, not without some period of struggle - still, in the end all will be well again.”

I agree. All will be well again. Life was fine without Staples before 1986 and life will be fine without Staples in the near future. All will be well again.

The irony is she has worked for Staples since 1992. Before that she was with Bain for 5 years where she consulted at Staples. So what was that about you can't expect to work somewhere your whole life? She has worked almost her entire professional life at Staples. SG stop talking out of both sides of your mouth.

“You people can't be this dense can you? She wasn't saying that the company wouldn't last. She was saying that priorities change, business focusses change, career aspirations and opportunities change and that someone staying with the same company for life is extremely rare. Which is all 100% true.”

You’re right. She is so wise. You’d think with all that wisdom and tenure in this company she would’ve helped steer it in the right direction. Instead she’s pointing out the obvious once it’s already occurred.

Also, it doesn’t matter that it was addressed to the postal union. It shows her true intent to offshore jobs.

This articles goes a little more in depth into her past with Mitt Romney as well.

“How is she wrong? Do you honestly think that in today's economy you are going to work for one company for life? Delusional”

Yeah why even try to create a company that lasts? Times have changed... why try?

  1. She was talking about members of the Postal Union.

  2. How is she wrong? Do you honestly think that in today's economy you are going to work for one company for life? Delusional.

a mental salve for her failure and greed. no doubt she inherited a poor situation but that's also the usual excuse.

I'm older but quite glad I did not end up like her or the others. Their sickness of ego is not my sickness. My sickness is disappointment in how they squandered our time.
