Thread regarding Sally Beauty Holdings Inc. layoffs

Hostile work enviroment

Since we are opening up about Sally Beauty, let me join in.

I’ve been with Sally Beauty for a little over 2 years and I have to admit, I don’t know which is worse - the customers I am serving or the team I am working with. Customers can sometimes have a ‘God’ complex which is understandable in retail, but coworkers can be worse.

We have employees who gossip about each other and management who have no experience or any idea of what their position entails. Winning combination. Not to mention, management most of the time pushes their workload onto others. This in combination with constant favoritism is really not helping the whole store atmosphere.

And did I mention we are constantly being accused of stealing? Yeah, that’s fun. All in all, better grow a very, very thick skin to feel comfortable in this workplace.

I was ousted too, but I have to laugh now when I realize how poorly I was treated and the lack of professionalism and discretion was used to handle the problems. It was one of the most humiliating experiences I've had in my professional career. Talk about nightmares. I am thankful now that I see the slow motion fumbles made with upper management. The company added a ridiculous amount of upper management roles, but not a single one seemed to know what customer base they were dealing with. Sally will never be Ulta or Sephora or even compete with department store makeup counters, no matter the EXPENSIVE upgrades in every store and if Sally's homegrown ideal had been embraced with the change in executive management, the company could be going in a completely different, profitable direction. But who cares? The new management came in without love for the company and people and decided it was going to line their pockets for a minute before they s--- it dry.

Agreed. The most hostile environment that I ever worked in. Backstabbing. Straight out lies. CYA. The pay is ridiculous. They pay in the 25 percentile for Denton! They don’t even benchmark against DFW.
