...you are going to be ok. Yes layoffs pose a fair share of complications and disappointment but it's not personal and you will survive. I was laid off today, the 2nd time in 6 years. I knew it was coming and welcome the thought of never talking to another crazy customer again. Just try to enjoy the time you have in between jobs because one does not have many opportunities in life where one can do nothing all day but still get paid.

Close to 600 people were let go today with people as old as my grand parents waking out of office in tears. Never see an office as grim as this. People who contributed their life for Staples were let go without even any consideration. Congrats to you Madam S and Madam PM for making your millions!!! The only guys curious enough were Sycamore who put cardboard boxes on all floor by the lobby so that people don’t have to go looking for one to pack there stuff.
Finally some positivity on here. Well said!
I left a few years ago without a followup job. it was a big relief to leave the weirdness and baloney. New job three months later at substantially more money.
Great post! I was let go today too. It was expected and actually I am a bit relieved to have it behind me so I can move on. I have seen so many friends and colleagues let go in the past year, I know it can be harder to be left with a job (and more work) while you anxiously await your number to be called. I am blessed that I have had the chance to work with so many great professionals in my time here. It really isn’t personal folks, though it is sad that it is just a numbers game to the powers that be. Take time to enjoy your family, then take full advantage of the outplacement services and your network to help find your next adventure. Trust me, the transition will challenge you but it will be better on the other side. Godspeed to all those impacted today, and good luck to those who remain.
Great post. Good luck to you in your job search and try to enjoy some of your paid time off.
