Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Fear tactics

Now that I am no longer with Micron I’m just gonna say that if you decide to take a position here - tread carefully. The company claims to make profits and on the same token sets off a round of layoffs.

In addition, depending on the department you’re in management is known to use fear tactics as a motivational tool. How anyone could think this tactic works is beyond me!

This makes it damn difficult to trust your superiors let alone focus on the task at hand because let’s face it - you were just told your position with the company is on shaky ground! After hearing this day in and day out while putting in the long hours and being unappreciated - who would want to remain? I sure as hell didn’t.

This post is true. When I worked at Micron, our group was constantly threatened with layoffs and jobs moving overseas. Excessive overtime was the expectation. Management excepted no excuses. Turnover was very high, but no-one cared. It was a horrible work environment. Coworkers at Micron are great, but the middle management is god-awful and nothing was ever done about it. I'm glad to be gone.

Well said. These comments are not Doomsday predictions. Micron is changing the way they do business in a rapidly changing business world. They are not in business to see to it that everyone that is currently employed keeps their job. Making money. That's it! They take pretty good care of you when you are helping them do that. When and I say when they don't need your service or production or your dept. then good bye and thanks. That's it! The employee "loyalty" thing is a thing of the long past. The type of employee they need today is 100% different than it was five or ten years ago. Excess or low skilled workers are going to lose their jobs. They are telling us that! If you need to continue working, explore other possibilities now. What does Micron have to say to convince you? Take care of you, because Micron will take care of itself.
