In ny unemployment is 26 weeks
unemployment is 1 year now if you have been with your company for 5 years or more
What ever your normal 40hr gross check is, if you are permanently laid off, take 90% of that gross number. Then subtract the amount of NYS unemployment check you will receive weekly, the ballance after unemployment check to get to 90% of your normal gross check is what you get from IEA funds. Did i explain that clear enough to understand? The way to figure out how much IAE you have coming is based on a formula in the union contract with the complany if you are a hrly worker in a union shop. Years of service is 1 thing that determines that total. If ya been there 10 yrs. you would have close to 14,000 dollars in that account for example. Divide that by 4-600 a week, ya got about 20 weeks of iae coming. 26 weeks of nys unemployment checks is standard for a lay off. No more Bush-Obama extentions to 26 weeks though!
