Contrary to earlier estimates of 4000 plus layoffs, only 1000 to 1200 layoffs are expected. Mainly in Director and executive roles. Most of the cost savings will be realized thru stopping loss making projects, spending lesser in r&d, sales and marketing. Warn notification by next week.

Yep, close down a couple of sites, sell off a couple of buildings, sell spectrums, end loss making projects that need million dollar equipments.

More complete BS. No numbers will be known until after the vote. That should be obvious to anyone with a brain. EVERYTHING is on hold until top management knows what path we're going down. The only certainty at this point is that there definitely will be a lay-off. Everything else is either 3rd hand garbage, speculation, or trolling.

cost to the company:
1 Sr. Staff = 410k
1 Director = 430k
1 Sr. Director/VP = 475k
1200 layoff = 500M+ savings
Wow, there seems to be a very high disparity between actual contributors and non contributors ! This means qualcomm is taking a big hit in their bottom line due to this.
Another way is to re balance [ - 30~40%] the salaries for those middle managers, where there is not contributors.

That sounds little better, but is it truly going the right direction and will it help in the log run or just a short term band aid ? These guys will get a golden parachute and the next CEO ( hmm..) will end up going in circles again, if not octane.
If Octane can claim to clean up 30%, why is QC hesitant to clean up the fat accumulated over the years ?
