Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

50% of IT being axed this year, expect a big slaughter wave as early as Feb 26.

Transforming quality into crap by going off-shore. India resources paid less than $10/hour. Company risks completely paralyzing IT and will have to resort to expensive consulting companies to dig itself out of a huge mess, assuming the company is still around in a year. IT costs will initially dip and then spike as the transformation implodes.

Enbridge is hiring an IT company,,, http://www.northamerica.tata.com/ . The workforce is mainly in india, but thats how sneaky they have become to outsource. They just sourced a North American company. Maybe the laid off enbridge people will be offered with TATA..

You don’t have to insult each other LOL. Might be for some people they sort of hoping previously that things will get better but it doesn’t and it will not for at least a year or so because I think the layoffs and reorg will continue. Besides, we have to keep our “transformational” leaders and staff keep employed. I for one wasn’t looking previously and doesn’t even entertain the headhunters that approached me but recently I already considered looking and started applying for posts that might give me a better shot of career advancement or at least a bit of job stability. With right time and right opportunity people will leave.

These exec types do not "leave on their own" in the middle of "a transformation initiative" unless it is going real sh--ty or they are pushed out cause their big and important boss does not like them. CD, MC, and KR all made promises they could not keep, so they got a nice severance package to move onto "other opportunities". The rest of us will be carrying their pension loads, trying to keep this sinking boat afloat. Unless, you are TIS... Then we will soon be carrying your pension load too.

Better yet, let's vote IPLE guy for Pope!

He could be the head of the Church of IPLE.

(Just watch your small children around him)

You who mock us in IPLE are only showing your ignorance of how this company generates revenue. You think your recent STIP bonus comes from thin air? It's comes from maximum performance of the company's liquid pipeline assets. Oil sands, eastern assets, western assets...they are the crown jewels of the company and we are the ones ensuring the right infrastructure is available at the right time.

CD had the respect of ELT ? Maybe, you should ask BN.

Dyer and Crocker were well respected that they had to leave. IT employees were so bad that they had to be outsourced. I wonder why everyone is not so happy with the service they are getting from TIS, though.

It's the employees fault that we have to outsource. CD and MC both have the respect of the ELT and did a great job despite the numerous challenges they both had to rise above.

The top 2 executors of TIS outsourcing - Catherine Dyer and Mel Crocker - have left the company on their own. They did not want to face the consequences of their actions. That's the kind of leaders Enbridge have.

BTW, have they found a new CIO yet ?

Maybe we can have IPLE support our IT needs?

Afterall they are the most valued and most important part of Enbridge, right?

"Pleased to be receivng your call, I am 'Lucy', how may I assisist your problem today?

Have you rebooted your computer?

That did not work so well? Then let me get my supervisor, Sanjay, you may call him 'Jay'.

Please hold indefinitly"

Dealing with India during Pipelink was not fun and cost company hundreds of millions.

They have to continue and keep transforming so that those who are in charge of transformation keep their jobs and those who are doing real work get screwed over the pennies that will be saved. All for cost savings, nothing new. If you are anywhere in area under TIS, start looking for work somewhere else. Many had already left and expect more.

Not surprised. Calgary has a really shallow IT talent pool. Amazon saw that and passed on YYC for HQ2.

Outsourcing never improves quality. Costs may initially drop but will definitely increase over time.
