Thread regarding Intermountain Medical Center layoffs

My job is going to India.

I work in billing, essentially for a small specialty clinic, and the transition into iCentra has been a nightmare, their are charges from 4 months ago that we are unable to get out due to IT problems. With the "transition" to R1 our supervisor was told that our legacy system clean up would be going overseas (R1 only has employees stationed in India right now) and we need to try harder in iCentra. Today I was in a part of the building I wouldn't normally be hanging around in and I overheard two of the higher up people discussing our team. According to them we are just scared of iCentra and they would basically be moving our current job duties overseas as well. This is a day after the feel good R1 meeting where we were promised our jobs would not be changing. After the 'transition' to R1 be prepared for your job to 'transition' to a cheaper workforce.

This is nothing new. Senior executives, like everyone else, only care about one thing, money. They are there to make money for their investors. Jobs go off sore so business can increase their profit margin, plain and simple.

People want cheap products from Walmart, they offshore production to make sure their profit margin states the same or increases because that is how they get their bonuses. People want cheaper services, they offshore them to increase their profit margin.

Why pay someone in the US $50K per year, Medicare, Medicaid, have your taxes, unemployment, etc. when they can pay someone in India $5K per year, no Medicare, no Medicaid, no taxes, no unemployment.

Do you want to change things? Quit feeling sorry for yourself, looking for handouts, and expecting someone to coddle you. Start your own business, sell your skills, and go work for yourself. If you do good work, take pride in what you do, you will find customers. Buy from local vendors. Do not buy from chain stores. Yes, you may pay more but the money goes back into our economy and not some large company. That is how we make the US great again.

I feel your pain. I work for a different company and just last month our whole team was let go and our work given to a contract company in India. I thought companies learned this was a bad idea long ago.
