Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Any solid advice appreciated.

Ok at this point in all my years at Stste Street just under 10 years, I have always been notified by now about a raise and/or bonus. I’m just under a year in my new team. I work long hours and do workloads far greater than the other members in my team. The thought of not getting a bonus because the Mgr is a real p. R. I. C. K. is going to really burn me up. So if I do not hear by March 1st should I address my Mgr? Should I ask about a bonus or raise? I know for s fact I’m grossly underpaid as it is. But I’m willing to tow the line for my team. But if my Mgr has the audacity not to give me bonus I feel like I should say something. If you think I shouldn’t or why I shouldn’t or why I should I’d truly appreciate real advice. I’m very very upset given the date of the month and still no word.

@ @RSMaupg-8wig at No Bonus

Yes this is how the company has used the fear of layoffs over the last 15 years.

Their motto has been " Be grateful you still have a job with us.

And workers are so conditioned to fear being laid off they no longer care about bonuses or raises.

Having their workload doubled and other perks taken away.

I know a coworker who lost the perk of working from home 2 days a week.

Decisions have been made and finalized awhile ago.

Be prepared that your manager cannot all of sudden give you raise or bonus.

That is not how TCP works.

Thank you I am going to talk to my Mgr about compensation. I am going to be patient and wait make sure that I don’t wait until all possibility of getting one is passed. And then I will meet and go over what o do etc and see about a raise or merit bonus. State Street sure knows how to create dissension and crush morale. They have a special knack. It’s not “too big to fail”. It’s really too big to succeed. Glory days done at the Clipper ship.

I suggest you simply ask your manager if you can discuss your compensation. If you end up getting nothing or if you end up getting little respectively explain why you deserve more. It is unlikely anything will change this yesr. But it should put you in a better position going forward.

Being tossed around between different managers due to layoffs, reorganizations and so forth, I feel I got screwed that past few years. I was clear but respectful about what had happened to me and also my late hours and hard work. Although raises and bonuses were not huge this year I got the highest percent raise and the first increase in my bonus.

You have to advacate for yourself and make it clear how much work you do as sometime s managers that are themselves overworked do not always notice or realize who is really valuable.

Why not look in the tool? I can see my bonus information. If you are in NA, your cash bonus will be paid on 3/2. Next week you can also start looking at payslips on old tool to see if you are getting one.

Merit increases do not go in effect till April.

In your situation, I would recommend simply asking your manager if he/she has your TCP information.

I don’t need your lecture what’s happening is not knew and it’s been going on for a couple of decades now. I actually have had multiple highly educated family members get laid off from top corporations. I am well aware of corporate America’s disregard of their work force. I don’t just work hard and long I produce superior results and know my value. If you want to roll over and not fight for what’s right be my guest. I was just looking for advice on how to broach the subject. But thanks for your words of encouragement. I think you’ve lost your humanity and should find a job that might bring it back to you. And thank you all to those with advice. Much appreciated.

No disrespect OP but the world has changed and companies everywhere are treating their employees very, very badly, as of maybe a year ago or so.

This hasn't fully come to your door yet, as you think working alot is unfair treatment. Soon you'll be missing those days and wondering how you could've ever complained about too much work. And this has NOTHING to do with you personally, it has to do with the environment and economy.

Good people losing their jobs everywhere, hard workers, competent, no matter, shown the door. Try to be grateful for having lots of work, and don't jeapordize a good thing, or you'll soon see what it's like to have no work.

No you have ever right to be angry and I been there myself. I did twice the work of some of my coworkers, worked holidays and weekends when they needed projects to be done on time.

But sadly the motto of Senior mgrs is "Be grateful you have a job, you could have been outsourced.

Oh I’d be really diplomatic and unassuming. I’m no hot head. And I understand the companies situation. But I feel I am very worthy of a bonus given what I do for the team and my Mgr. Are you suggesting to not ask at all? I may wait until end of March not to be presumptuous about it. But in the interim I’m pretty upset

When you do asked your Mgr do not do it in an angry way. This will alway cause him or her to make a note your too aggressive and should probably be let go.

I know its very hard but I and a few of my coworkers went 2 years with no raises or bonuses.

First remember the company has been having yearly layoffs over the last 15 years, so why put a bulleyes on yourself.
