Digital Software Executive Jumping Ship?

Sooooo, what's happening over at GE Digital these days? Why is this Executive making a move away from GE? Saw the recent GE reports cameo which had him talking all about how great the Industrial Internet is and what the future holds - What changed or did he get a better offer?

He was way over his head here, and he will likely be a net negative for Uptake. Might not last long there.

He was easily the best - wrote the playbook on how to do digital, hired best talent, built great culture and actually delivered customer acquisition and numbers. I was there.. most inspirational leader at GE Digital

Uptake is beatting Predix badly in the market. Smart move by him. Agree there is a great life after GE!

The only people who stay are the ones who have been here too long and aren't employable elsewhere.

He’ll fit right in at Uptake. They also spend a lot of money to produce very little.

He was made redudant by the incoming GE Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of Energy Connections when the businesses merged. He was also a Bolze lacky and therefore has lost his support circle. Also he has quite a track record of moving between tech companies with increasing levels of title. So nothing suprising, just par for the course. Honestly Power Digital is the only Digital unit delivering any numbers for software sales (albeit possibly spending 2x more than they make)...

OP, the guy was fired for failing to deliver his numbers.

This sentence: "his blatant show of favoritism, total lack of respect for talent, and complete inability to manage his team and execute"...

So I guess he acclimated very well into GE culture there in just 4 years time. What did you expect?

Better life after GE!!

This only goes to prove how good of a BS-er he is. He most likely was on notice anyways, but surprised how little investigation and due diligence many companies (including GE) do when hiring senior executives. As long as you can drop in the right buzz words, they are hired. We spend more time hiring the lowest level of developer than a senior level executive, where the stakes are much higher. This person of interest has left a trail of destruction and aftermath behind him in ServiceSource and GE Power Digital. The whole team (other than his chosen favorites) despised him, his blatant show of favoritism, total lack of respect for talent, and complete inability to manage his team and execute. All he did effectively was to market himself and be on TV. He most certainly can talk well.

That Uptake is so lucky, he did such a great job at GE Digital... just look at GE stock price and the fact that "Digital" did not produce anything but air.

A lot of other "executives" are leaving or forced to leave.. most of them nothing but a bunch of scammers.
