I'm a former Cabela's employee. I visited the store where I used to work recently. While there one of the Outfitters told me that they let the AP manager go and Bass Pro does not permit the apprehension of shoplifters.
How can this be?

Shoplifting is not the biggest threat, employee theft is. Minimum wage workers will always find a way to supplement their income.
Johnny Morris will be regretting his decision big time he eliminated ap, however he has the biggest ego on the planet he will never admit it and will continue to let his poor fledgling stores suffer.

There have been studies done...it's cheaper to take the loss in Merch compared with paying the salary and benefits of an AP team. Then you have all this legal liability and possible bad press.
