Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Juniper March 2018 layoffs

Mid to late March this year or sooner. Remember last March’s layoffs? They need to get their numbers in order for Q1 2018.

Pretty much this, for those wondering when next round of layoffs is coming. Not sure how bad it will get, but I'm positive we will not go through March without another "cleanup."

@11pyu, what is the big deal about contrail? looks like its media coverage is a lot less than when QFabric was announced.

That is why Contrail is here to save the day. The latest news says Contrail has delivered the only true multi-cloud solution. BK has delivered his first BS. Look at the list of customer testimonials on the announcement. Quotes. You can call the BS on a marketing announcement when you read these. You be the judge!

@RRYqtW7-ypax agree with you. I lasted about 2 years 10 months. First couple of years were amazing. I worked with energy, had a great boss who encouraged growth. All of a sudden I had an inexperienced man-manager promoted solely because he had been doing nothing at Juniper for over 9 years except hanging on from coat tails of the VP. The guy started off by lying., bullying, threatening to put names on a "list", fudging numbers.

I tolerated for a few months then my professional self-respect got in the way, handed in my notice for a far better place. If you are like me, not a career Juniper (should have said Junker) person, then you have made the right decision. Anybody who was any good at Juniper, including the founder member ex-CTO PS have left the company. Upper management is hanging around either for stock options payoff if and when JNPR gets sold or a golden parachute in case they get kicked out. Other than that anyone who is there for 5+ years simply have nowhere else to go, lost their drive & skill sets, not good enough to find a good opportunity, kissing a$$ and hanging around for a paycheck.

Leave the swamp and grow your career. Lots of great places to work out there. Best wishes!

During a layoff, Juniper’s HR organization targets one group they want out through PIPs. These employees don't get paid a severance package, but lose their jobs anyway. Another group will be laid off and granted a small severance package. Last, but not least, HR knows another group will eventually leave the company voluntarily, out of fear for being targeted in a future layoff. @RRYqtW7-ypax and others who say “it’s time to leave” fall into this last category.

Sadly some employees in HR departments such as Juniper’s are about as evil and cunning as sleezy lawyers. They have no regard for people as human beings. HR organizations that are run by these types of fleabags might as well be called “resource department” and drop the “human” element from their name as it is misleading. There is nothing human about ruining people’s lives, or making hard working people miserable like this.

Good luck to all that survive this layoff. Even more good luck to those unfortunate employees that got pushed out. For the handful, if that, of managers, who fight to keep employees and minimize the impact of these layoffs, thank you, and keep up the good work.

For those that work dilligently within and outside of HR, to pretend you care, but in reality gloat while making hard working people suffer with bogus PIPs etc., (you know who you are), your day will come. It’s only a matter of time.

I know one person that was abruptly laid-off this week.

I've been at Juniper for 3 miserable years. Kept hope alive that things would get better - they've only gotten worse. Time to leave...

Wierd that PS is cleaning house because AG ran his organization extremely well - they were profitable and maintained great margins. This might be RR’s ploy to make AG look bad because he knows AG will make a better CEO!

Axing people with PIP is very low.

People are being kicked out in n very small batches through PIPs. Even top performers are getting PIPs so they can be kicked out without repercussions. Crazy!

I am a engineer. Juniper never promotes its own people for promotion. They hire from out side to

build their kingdom. They loose good people, still that's ok for them.

Manager never encourages career advancements. Stupid judgement and then followed by layoffs.

No honest conmunication regarding what is going wrong.

Lots of examples of incompetence getting promoted especially in marketing. One of the worst managers and people I have ever met got promoted to VP of brand and comms. She is a cancer and everyone knows it yet she got promoted again. Rumor is that she has something on her manager or possibly something going on between them. Very sad. Jump ship now before it goes down.

I wonder if the middle management fat will be cleaned up, so many @$$ l!ckers at the mid management in emea who became sr manager out of the blue with absolutely NO mgmt skills, actually no skills whatsoever. Only thing these managers do is make people frustrated and eventually make good people leave. A round of serious clean up is necessary!

It could happen soon. I saw a huge stack of moving boxes placed around each floors. It’s a sure sign of something about to happen.

Maybe it is because too many people left already. You can check the total head count on org chart every week.

Bet the inexperienced drones promoted to "manager" from years and years of being staff in EMEA will still be drinking wine at company expenses while on "business trips" to Amsterdam. Every time I see how much money Juniper spends behind these non-performers and either lets go of actually performing people and/or pushes them out, I want to throw up. This company is doomed. Going Nortel/Brocade way.

Wonder about the fates of the protected political non-performing mid-management laggards. Bet they will still be around

Heard the same. Layoffs coming. Otherwise they cannot balance the books. Rumoredly, its the same pattern: the politically active , incompetent managers promoted because they hung from someone's coattails in US and EMEA gets to stay and waste more time and talent while sincere folks will be let go. If you have been performing, at the top of your game, start looking elsewhere. This boat is going down. They will likely sell the company as has been rumored many times in the financial sector in recent times - and upper management is hanging around for the payoff on their stocks for that day. When the boat goes down, a lot of people with a very similar background and profile will be looking for similar roles across the industry. IMHO, do not wait for the D-Day. Start looking now. I am handing my papers in this week. Best wishes to everyone.

Hopefully they will focus at us poor tech people in Europe for a change and bring in some quality leadership. We are gasping for breath.
