Thread regarding Toys "R" Us layoffs

No severance

How low can they go? There will be no severances paid out to people in the closing stores. So not only is everybody losing their livelihood, they will be given absolutely nothing to tide them over until they can find new jobs.

And yet, I'm positive those on top will get their full pays no matter what happens.

Makes me want to throw up.

That’s bs it’s not hard for any exec to walk into a new job especially with the buddy network. Companies don’t look at the fact the company went out of business as an issue, it’s just business. Middle managers are going to have thr harder time as there’s lot of other layoffs in retail all at the same time, so everyone’s going after the same job unless they get out of retail.

The people on top get their golden parachutes while the little men get zilch

Worse is the fact that if you live in a "no pay out" state, you lose your accrued vacation time.....

Top execs already got theirs, that's why the company is bankrupt. When you file for bankruptcy there is no money to operate, no money to pay severance packages, no anything. They sell (liquidate) all the assets with hopes of paying their debts.

It will be difficult for any exec who is in charge when a company goes bankrupt to find a new job. What do they put on their resumes, "I bankrupt the company, that is my biggest accomplishment."
