IBM AND CLOWN CIO OUT

IBM's $2.3bn gloal outsourcing contract with engineering giant Aecom is "a mess", and CIO Tom Peck is "on his way out", according to a source close to the deal.

The source, who wishes to remain anonymous, explained that they had seen a request to terminate all of Peck's accounts from the financial systems, and suggested that this means the CIO is leaving.

He ripped up URS's amazing it department just to outsource. Unfortunately engineering software is not the same across the board and most don't know how to fix it because they only know how to fix Microsoft office and acrobat products. There are hundreds of engineering softwares. Tom Peck was an id--t for not knowing this initially and destroying the URS IT structure that worked so well.

AECOM did a big mistake and they are paying it the hard way, impacting their business. There are things do you want to mess with, and IT is one of them on a company that large. They lost all the expertise, data is being lost, not backups, no recovery, and they are spending way more money now that offices have to look for their own IT solutions, so sad, but well deserved. Take care of your employees if you want to take care of your business

The poor IT service is impacting the ability for us to deliver to our clients and has been for a while. Deadlines are not being met and it's costing us.

It is true and the same anonymous person told few anonymous folks that Tom Peck is going to Ingram Micro. God bless People at Ingram Micro!

Not sure how accurate some of those facts are (I had heard Tom was preparing to leave before they even announced the outsourcing). It sort of makes sense that he would have stuck around a bit after the outsourcing. I've also heard he'll be landing a gig a little to the south of where he is so this feels like a voluntary exit to me.

Who knows, the rest of it is likely on point. Wouldn't be surprised if AECOM is searching for clues to whomever this 'insider' is.
