This is really not good. It's not only that the stores are being closed, now JCPenney is closing its distribution and customer care center as well. Nearly 700 people in Wauwatosa will be out of a job by the end of summer.
I think it's only a matter of time before additional store closings are announced. Things are definitely not looking good for us.
I'm so sorry for the position loss. Fortunately, these may be isolated cases. The new position I took was extended to 3 departments. After doubling my budget for the year, I positioned in a position that made me to valuable to turn loose. I still feel that JCPENNEY is a strong company and makes decisions that benefit the company.
I know about JC Penney appliance department layoffs. They hired me 2 years ago from a competitor to open up their appliance department here. This week they tell me they are eliminating my supervisor position. Offered a sales associate position at a 30% pay cut or leave. Should have seen this coming.

Nice job using your appliance people you hired 1 year ago. Now that your departments are up and running you eliminate ALL of them. Horrible way to treat people that trusted you. Do not shop here.
