Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Transportation divestature started

Transportation support employees in corp, global ops, digital, etc being consolidated back to the vertical. I seen this for a few employees. Has anybody noticed this on a large scale? This is first step in process to sale. Next will be getting GET's pensions in order and cutting cost to make look more profitable. Unfortunately i think some will be laid off as this transformation happens.

Easy there, @RJ1eLwz-2fcr ... It makes perfect sense if you know what OP is talking about.

For example:

  • Lots of folks used to be in GET IT (under the CIO...was Nancy Anderson for the longest time, now Monica Caldas)

  • Relatively recently, these teams were shifted from GET to GE Digital (but still supporting GET exclusively)

  • Now, many of these teams have been shifted back to GET so (as OP states) it can be seen as a "whole" company as it is divested from GE Corporate

Similar thing happened with Commercial teams... Can't speak for other groups.

Anyway...I'm sure this has been a pain for those involved, but I'm not sure how it would result in layoffs (it's not like the amount of work being done will decrease).

All in all, the way GE Corporate is going, I would think this is actually a good thing... It's like GET is safely in a lifeboat, but is still lashed to the sinking ship.... Can they cut the lines before getting pulled under???

"Consolidated back to the vertical"? WTF does that even mean??? Lol. You are ridiculous for repeating this nonsense

This is the kind of BS doublespeak gobbledygook that Jamie Miller used to spew as she drove GETS into the ground. The fact that she's been promoted is ridiculous and spells doom for the rest of GE.

There has been no change at all to the North America global ops organization that supports Transportation. No one (or their work) has been moved back to the vertical.

Started at our plant right after the announcement. Everyone left is locked and can’t transfer.

We have severe parts shortages, the likes of which never seen before. So the money saved there will be easily eaten up by the loss of production.
