Sycamore Partners LOSERS!

Jan 8, 2018

A legal tussle that pitted Dollar Tree against an upstart discount chain has been settled in the Chesapeake-based retailer's favor. Dollar Express will pay Dollar Tree $35 million, according to a financial filing noting the Jan. 4 settlement that put an end to two lawsuits filed in the Delaware Chancery Court.

Dollar Tree sued Charlotte-based Dollar Express earlier this year, claiming it was still owed $53.5 million after it sold 330 Family Dollar stores to Dollar Express in late 2015. The sale was the result of an antitrust agreement when Dollar Tree bought Family Dollar.

Dollar Express, owned by Sycamore Partners, countersued alleging the chain sabotaged its business through its hiring practices and by opening new Family Dollar stores nearby.

Since when is it illegal to have competition near by? WTF? Who does Sycamore think they are? What was the hiring practices? Dollar Tree is probably paying their employee's better.
