Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Lay Offs

Have any of you been assigned a Skype meeting with your manager or Sr. Managaer for next week that’s out of the norm???

If so, what’s your title...help some of us understand what we should be afraid of over the next 2 weeks...

Last months layoffs were inevitable, we all knew it was coming and their last day was 12/29 to ensure all ‘top’/5week severance was paid out before 2018 Staples Fiscal Year...

but this site provided false info from posters, such as ‘all furniture was laid off’....

One could only hope they would realize the specific targets should be the ones running the locations. They are the ones that keep the workforce toxic and don't bother speaking up or they will make your life miserable.

Skype!? Are you kidding me? Does anyone know what departments/groups are being affected? Is it one of those “pound of flesh” deals or are there specific targets?

Per the email from HR in late December bonuses are on track to pay out the following.

2H Payout Forecast 1H Payout

North America Retail (NAR) 130% 194%

North American Delivery (NAD) 80% 76%

Enterprise (50% NAR / 50% NAD) 105% 135%

You will get an email from your manager for a meeting the following day... it is being held via Skype and the management is being directed to send the skyp information that HR creates to the people being terminated. Then, Hr calls in and joins the call while the poor manager, who has NO say I. This whatsoever has to read a script to their employees. And IDK what anyone is talking about regarding bonuses...that is nonexistent

HR sent out an email on fri to managers about a new tool for tracking employee PTO. It also talks about payout for employees upon termination.

I have been employed here for years and don't know what bonus is being discussed. I will admit to being a little jealous here. What departments receive this wonderful bounty every year?

Need to be employed after Feb 3rd or you get no bonus.

If you get fired before February, you're unfortunately not eligible for the prior year bonus. my understanding is that it is not pro-rated.

What happens to people who get bonuses? If they get laid off do they get their bonus or do they just eat it?

Like others said, it will happen with very short notice. And the furniture team already took their hit, so you’ll be fine.

Any title that has "mandatory call" is a dead give away.

I have soon a meeting but doubt he will discuss anything more than business. I work for the furniture team.

They wouldn't send them out this early. One of the last rounds a friend got an invite just hours prior.
