My husband was among those laid off by Comcast a few months ago and now he is not sure what to do. He is in his early fifties, and from what we've been hearing, finding a job at that age is pretty much impossible.
Has anybody who was laid off and who is of similar age had any luck with finding a job? Are there companies out there that will hire people with his knowledge and experience at decent salary? Any info would be highly appreciated.
I knew many in 50's, even 60's that went to AT & T or Century Link
I was laid off in November and I am still looking. If you use the online agencies your resume goes into a black hole. If you look for a company you want to work for and apply directly I have been getting a better response. Small companies seem more responsive to older applicants than bigger ones. No one wants to pay anything decent. Here I am 50 starting over when I should be getting ramped up to retire. My sister is working two part time jobs and that seems to work for her. Companies will hire part time faster than full time. Good luck.
Write to your congressman/congresswoman to stop H1B and business transfer visas to work in US companies. If these visas are stopped, then US citizens in all ages can get a job in the USA.
I worked for them and was laid off last month along with several others at our location.
I’ve not found work yet and I’m in my 50’s (the majority laid off are in my age bracket).
I’d suggest he go through a hiring agency.
