You should all discuss going union. Dont know why you all are suffering like this. Band together and hit him where it hurts.

I agree totally with last statement. It's also worth mentioning that there is barely any Management left to prevent everyone from sticking together. Just be honest with yourself. Do you feel comfortable with retirement and stability? Could you get a new mortgage or a new vehicle and really feel comfortable? Do you really feel like you have a career or just a job? It is what you make it.
Don't take this as rude or talking down to any of you because I'm here with you guys and hope the best for you but if you guys put half as much energy into uniting and putting all you differences aside as you do complaining on this website, you guys may actually get somewhere. We all know what the deal is at this place. You guys sit here and say get the cards going. If you want it that bad reach out to the union and get it going. You're never going to get what you want sitting here and complaining day in and day out. But talk to someone that works in a different union whether it's a lineman or a verizon tech and educate yourself and they'll tell you that you're never going to get anywhere unless you guys are all on the same page and have FULL support, not we might be able to get this to pass. Stop calling techs lazy. Stop complaining about the ftth guys. Stop complaining and turn that energy into something that might actually make a difference.
Get the cards going , I’ll sign in a heartbeat
to GO HOME AND GET YOUR SHINE BOX.
I took the package the first time I was offered, with the company for 30 yrs. I'm now happily retired and spending more time with family ,I did not touch any of my pension or 401k just letting you know.
And this is why you won't get it to work you can't even talk to someone with a little bit of respect when they ask a question. Show some respect for everyone whether you like them or not, whether you like what they say or not, and maybe just maybe you guys can't unite
"If it did not work before, what makes you think it will work now?."
go home and get your fúcking shine box.
If it did not work before, what makes you think it will work now?.
So, who is willing to run the show? What representation do we seek? Who is going to step up? How do we get an ATS wide vote scheduled? Hey union reps, we know you read this, start getting some cards into circulation. Help us sell this to the techs! If we get nothing besides giving management a headache it’s worth it! But maybe we’ll really make a difference and start turning the clock back to a better time.
I wonder how all the superstars and but lickers feel now that they see the light and been bluntly lied too Or are they still calling the vets laZy? More like Stupidity if you ask me.
"everyone is too scared to get targeted."
The FEAR is REAL
FEAR is management's most effective tool that's been used against us for decades. I've seen techs been fired, transferred, unfairly rolled up on, denied promotions, etc. all because they were pro-union.
The questions that need answering now in 2018 is:
-
how do we overcome fear?
-
at what point do we say "enough is enough"?
-
do we bend over and let Altice continue to fúck us or do we stand up and fight?
-
is it feasible for all shops to unite and organize? (snitches included)
-
would it even matter at this point?
-
can Oakland & Brooklyn assist us?
-
will Fat Barry return with a vengeance?
Tried and failed at my shop. Couldn't get a committee together because everyone is too scared to get targeted.
Your Right to Form a Union
If a majority of workers wants to form a union, they can select a union in one of two ways: If at least 30% of workers sign cards or a petition saying they want a union, the NLRB will conduct an election. If a majority of those who vote choose the union, the NLRB will certify the union as your representative for collective bargaining.
Your Rights during Union Organizing
You have the right to organize a union to negotiate with your employer over your terms and conditions of employment. This includes your right to distribute union literature, wear union buttons t-shirts, or other insignia (except in unusual "special circumstances"), solicit coworkers to sign union authorization cards, and discuss the union with coworkers. Supervisors and managers cannot spy on you (or make it appear that they are doing so), coercively question you, threaten you or bribe you regarding your union activity or the union activities of your co-workers. You can't be fired, disciplined, demoted, or penalized in any way for engaging in these activities.
Go ahead start it up! Dont talk about it....be about it!
Definitely think we should all go for it f em what's the worst that could happen the best that could happen is we get a contract and throw a huge wrench into there monster plan let's vote union YES
Newark is the only that has to wait. Rest of the depots can go now. What do you have to lose? They taking everything anyway.
But for all the shops that said no can’t vote anymore right? So what’s the point?
I agree
Why not try to unionize the whole of ATS? I don’t understand why we would just try 1 shop at a time. It would seem that if it was all of us we could make a change. Please educate me if I’m off base here. Let’s make 2018 the year of the union! Let’s take our company back!
All the BS that Altice is getting away with right now could've been avoided if techs would've been smart enough to vote YES the first time!
Instead of having a say in our future, we foolishly gave complete control to the very people that want to get rid of each and everyone of us!
take note:
-
1/4/2017 - Piscataway
(43 for / 53 against) -
1/5/2017 - Bronx
(92 for / 113 against) -
1/2017 - Hawthorne
(withdrew petition) -
1/2017 - Rockland
(withdrew petition) -
3/1/2017 - Oakland
(49 for / 46 against) -
3/16/2017 - Newark
(53 for / 60 against)
Oakland & Brooklyn not enough leverage... needed more shops to vote YES in order to have a chance!
rest of the footprint?.... either, continue to blindly trust management (Fat Barry, Prugash, Hilbítch, Charlie, & Bob) or just unwilling to stand up and fight for their employment.
50% of the techs that were in the Bronx either quit, took package, or jumped over into a another frying pan @ Spectrum to deal with the same ol monsters.
Here's the kicker.... Altice is far from finished!
God bless you all. The ones still working there the new owners are monsters. I do miss the Dolan family’s. Yes there was things that could be work on like spending money the wrong places but they were good the workers and god bless them for that I have left afterworking 22 years it was a sad day for me. Much happier now.
This is true, co-workers in my area have just stopped caring; others like me are plotting to leave ASAP. There is just no value or reason for me to stay at this company when other companies have better stability, pay, and benefits. One thing that I do know, is that other companies value our experience and have been picking up talented individuals left and right. Altice will never be competitive with contractors, that's a fact.
Good luck to everyone.
you're absolutely correct but guess what?? It most likely will never happen.
most of the techs left fall into 3 categories when it comes to unionizing.
-
TOO GULLIBLE -
TOO SCARED -
NO LONGER GIVE A FÚCK
Furthermore, as long as FAT Barry, Hílbitch, and Prugash are still on Altice's payroll, you can fuggetabouit!
