Do the math of the depreciation of 10nm and the revenue coming from those wafers. It will bust the margins this year 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

More likely he (and others, like SS) knew about the unfixable HW bug in all Intel processors that's about to tank stock and trigger major lawsuits from customers seing 5-30% performance drop to keep their OS secure. If that's not insider trading I don't know what is. A couple of observation made on /.

Motley Fool is just noting that the Intel CEO isn't holding any more stock than he needs to.

And there are good reasons:

  • AMD is back from the dead.

  • Intel's GPU hasn't been that successful -- they've even teamed up with AMD to put Radeon GPU's in the same die as an Intel CPU.

  • PC sales are declining as consumers shift from Intel PC's to using ARM-powered tablets & phones instead.

  • ARM is making inroads into the "desktop and laptop computer" marketplace.

  • ARM is powering most consumer electronics as well (TV's, Blu-ray players, Smart Speakers, etc)

  • Intel is absolutely nowhere in the mobile world. Mobile has one ARM to rule them all.

  • Intel missed the boat for the current generation of XBOX and PlayStation consoles.

Adding this failure (thanks CART, nice job) to the list above there's plenty of reasons to dump stock now.

Intel has to institute a replacement program, compensate customers (not just to individuals but cloud providers like Amazon, Google, M$, and others), or face class actions. On top of that, competing processors from AMD are not affected and hence performance tipped 5-30% in their favor overnight.

I always think it‘s funny when people pick something from two weeks back as the „news of the year“ because their memory does not extend further back than that.

Also interesting to see how people seem to think that a CEO needs to sell his shares BEFORE leaving the company, thus making it an indication that he intends to do so. Hey look, it‘s logic! OP just threw it out the window!
